Side Scan Sonar Winches
A.G.O. winches have been a popular choice for side scan sonar operations since the early 2000’s when we started working with Klein Marine Systems.
The older CSW-7 winches can be found in use around the globe, many still in service after over 10 years.
The newer frame design of the DBW-6 winches offers a more affordable and better-leadtime alternative to the old CSW-7s for otherwise the same winch capabilities.

DBW-5/5V
The DBW-5/5V is usually quoted for side scan applications with shorter cable lengths or site power source restrictions.

- 300m of 0.362″ soft-jacket cable + EdgeTech 4200 side scan sonar
- 250m of 0.322″ A320327 steel-armoured cable + EdgeTech 4205 side scan sonar
- 200m of 0.257″ A304874 steel-armoured cable + EdgeTech 4125 side scan sonar
DBW-6
The DBW-6 is currently our most commonly quoted winch model for side scan sonar applications.

DBW-6 winches have been configured for:
- 1000m of 0.25″ A240250 steel-armoured cable + CMAX CM2 side scan sonar
- 700m of 0.322″ A320327 steel-armoured cable + EdgeTech 4205 w/ SeaSpy 2 magnetometer
- 600m of 0.322″ A320327 steel-armoured cable + EdgeTech 4125i, 4205, or 4200-SP/MP side scan sonar
- 600m of 0.322″ A320327 steel-armoured cable + Klein 3000, 3900, 4000, 4K-SVY, S4900, or M-AX View 600 side scan sonar
- 500m of 0.472″ Geometrics kevlar tow cable + Geometrics G-882 magnetometer
- 400m of 0.402″ A305993 steel-armoured cable + Klein MA-X View 600 or 5000v2 side scan sonar
CSW-6/7/9 "Classic"
The CSW-6/7/9 “Classic” is A.G.O.’s foundational winch model. Its welded tube-and-plate frame makes it a more expensive option than the DBW-6 and so is usually only quoted in specific circumstances where the DBW-6 may not be able to fully meet requirements.
CSW-10
The CSW-10 is our largest winch model for deeper and heavier duty applications.

- 1000m of 0.433″ A303613 steel-armoured cable + Klein 3900, 5000V2, or MA-X View 600 w/ depressor wing and G-882 or SeaSpy2 magnetometer
- 1000m of 0.402″ A305993 steel-armoured cable + Klein S4900 or 4K-SVY w/ depressor wing and SeaSpy2 magnetometer
- 1000m of 0.322″ A320327 steel-armoured cable + EdgeTech 4125i, 4205, or 4200-SP/MP side scan sonar
