Network-controlled servo winch debuts at COVE
COVE Ocean in Dartmouth, NS required a small, capable, remotely controlled winch to raise and lower their dockside instrument mounting rig as part of their services supporting testing for ocean technology companies’ newest sensors and instruments.
A.G.O. worked together with the COVE development team to implement the small PIP-MkI servo winch, while the COVE team implemented the user interface for sending the digital control commands to the winch over its Ethernet connection to their network.
The servo motor and associated motor controller used in this winch are ideal for low-load, high-tech applications like this that require features like line payout metering, electric brake, and remote control over a network in a small, compact package.
