Airborne Towed Instrumentation System - Two used towed birds with accessories

Custom designed for NORANDA/Falconbridge in 1982, these are conductive graphite coated fibreglass aerodynamic tow birds with lead shot weighted noses. They are specifically designed to carry magnetometers and VLF sensors for towing behind helicopters in low-level flight.

The units were originally designed to take a Barringer 123 base station magnetometer system with an airborne recorder station, but a more modern system could be retrofitted. They were also designed to mount an airborne VLF system.

Asking price: $3000.00 CDN for two birds

This price included the moulds to make spare parts, a cart for moving them around plus some mixed VLF sensor system components. The whole package fits on a 4’ x 6’ pallet and could be shipped by air or truck.

Used and Old Stock Subsea Lights
